FINAL PROJECT

This project was a lot of fun. I wasn't sure how I felt about it or what I was going to do at first. The evening we were given our assignment the 4 of us at the table really just looked at each other and scratched our heads attempting to figure out what exactly we should do.
Right away I had a few ideas about what I wanted to do. I decided not to build a model or rearrange my living room.
I have a friend Rose Rosales who moved into a new house a few months ago. She decorated with what she had already but she has been slowly getting around to decorating and organizing every room. I have helped her with her sun room and her daughters' room already. I talked to her about my project for school and asked her if i could design her dining room.
She wants to keep the mirror where it is. I did talk to her about maybe getting a bigger mirror to open up the room some more. She wants a chandelier and a new table.

These are a few photos of what it looks like right now.

She wants to paint all but one of the walls. She wants wallpaper on that wall

We spent a long time talking about what she wants and how she wants to decorate. She wants a buffet table. And she wants to have photographs of her family above it.
Rose talked to me about a place to put her nice dishes and some of her wine and martini glasses. I suggested that the buffet table she wants could also serve as a place to keep and possibly display the dishes.

.

Quite a few ideas were thrown around. She wasn't entirely sure about how to highlight her photos. She liked the light fixture I was thinking of.

Rose also showed me images of the crown molding she wants

I spent a long time drawing everything in Google Sketch-Up.

Together we went through the 3D images at my disposal with Sketch Up and found a dining table and a buffet table she liked. I found a chandelier she approved of. I was able to use the wallpaper she liked the best.

Finding the objects didn't take so long. The time-consuming part was putting everything into Sketch up.

Another trick I had to learn was how to create the entrance arch. The opening itself was easy with the arch tool. The difficulty I had was drawing a wall that wasn't flat

An X-ray image that better shows the entrance wall

Crown molding

In the end I was proud of how my project came out. Sketch-Up was a lot of fun to use. I really wish I'd had more time to work on it though.

Rose really likes and wants to use this specific wallpaper on the wall behind the mirror.

We perceive an image using our sense of sight. A visual image can also stimulate one of our other 4 senses. This phenomenon is called kinesthetic empathy.

Connecting and flowing elements emphasized by light and dark. The image appears soft and smooth in the transition. This image however, is deceptive, attic insulation is very itchy and abrasive.
